China Adventure: The Shanghai Museum

Day Two in Shanghai we booked a city tour since we had such a limited time in the city and wanted to see as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. We booked with a company called City Discovery tours whom we had used before in Florence and were again very satisfied.

Our first stop of the day was the Shanghai museum. A very well organized museum with everything from furniture to calligraphy to ceramics and sculptures. We only had 40 minutes and could easily have stayed another hour.

The furniture was breathtaking and these photos don't do it justice at all. Really intricate carving and polished to a shine. Gorgeous!

The porcelains were equally amazing. So many colors and such an intricate design.

And a taste of the sculpture.

This is an outside view of the museum. It's considered one of the top 5 museums in all of China.

And a view of the city scape and the beautiful flowers we saw all over this area of Shanghai. The city is very clean and it's obvious they take great pride in their streets and cultural areas. Unfortunately, it was also quite cloudy. I can only imagine how much better everything would look on a clear day.
